1. A comfortable chair. If you're going to splurge on anything, here's the place to do it. Spending countless hours at your desk can take a toll on your back. Investing in comfort will surely allow you to focus on the task at hand without being distracted by discomfort.

3. A system to keep paper organized. As much as we like to try, it can be nearly impossible to avoid paper clutter. Creating a system utilizing magazine files, binders, a vertical organizer or even a file cabinet can help you to keep track of all of those pesky papers.

4. A notebook. Rather than having all kinds of scrap notes messing up your space, stick to a single notebook in which to jot down important details and you'll never have to search for that missing sticky note again.

10. A waste bin. While perhaps not so exciting, having a place to easily discard trash is obviously an absolute must-have in any office. And, I've got to say, there's something just a little satisfying about crumpling up a piece of paper once you're done with it.

11. Inspiration. Don't limit your office to a place of utility. Bring in objects which inspire you to continue working toward your goals or that remind you of just how far you've come.
