The Easy Way to Clean Your Microwave

Microwave getting grimy? When it can no longer be avoided and I must face that spattered mess, I like to use this method to clean my microwave and it basically requires zero effort.

What you will need:

  • 1/3 cup of lemon juice

  • water

  • microwave-safe bowl

  • dirty microwave

Fill a microwave-safe bowl about three quarters of the way with water. Squeeze or pour in around a 1/3 of a cup of lemon juice.

Put the bowl in the microwave and set time to 10 minutes.

The water cooking in the microwave will create steam to loosen all of that yucky grime!

Once the time is up, after allowing the bowl of hot liquid to cool for a few minutes, very carefully, with oven mitts, remove the bowl of hot liquid and place into the sink out of your way.

Remove the spinning plate from the microwave and wash in the sink with dish soap. Take a sponge or scrubby cloth and wipe down the inside of the microwave, rinsing the sponge or cloth as needed.

Replace the spinning plate back to its place and, voila, you've got a clean and great smelling microwave!
