Is there any other space in the home that sees so much traffic in any given day? Here are some items that can ease the congestion in this space and give you a better start and finish to your day.
1. Clock
When heading out you're probably going to want to know how much time you have to get where you're going. A wall clock is a good idea to utilize wall space rather than table tops.
2. Bench
For sitting when lacing shoes, waiting by the door, somewhere for your guests to put their bag or even to place an item you don't want to forget on your way out.
3. Mat
To collect all the mud and dirt from outdoor shoes.
4. Shoe Rack
Keep the floor clear and keep from tripping by using vertical space.
5. Coat Rack
Somewhere to hang your family's coats, leaving extra room for guests. Have a lower rack for children to reach on their own.
6. Mirror
For a quick check before you go out with that messy hair or lipstick on your teeth. Again, try to get one that can be hung on the wall, up off of the floor to save space.
All family members are going to have one of these, be it a backpack, purse, briefcase, gym bag, so why not make a specific place to keep them, every time.
A handy place for hats, mitts, pocket contents, any other things you need when you go out.
9. Key hooks
Always keep your keys in the same place and you won't have to search for them. Make it a habit to put them in their designated place as soon as you walk in the door.
10. Message board
For communication with your family or reminders for yourself. If you have a metal door you could even keep a magnet on the door for small notes.
