Wanted: Less Stuff

Just a quick idea, if you're struggling to find the motivation to declutter or just don't know where to start.
Try scrolling through the "wanted" section in your local newspaper or community ads like Kijiji. Looking at some of these items that other people are seeking may just remind you of what you've got sitting around your home (which you may have forgotten about) that could potentially be decluttered to free up some space.
Along that same idea, check out the lists of "items we accept" on charitable organization or thrift shop websites. This can also be a good way to stir up ideas of more things that you forgot you had and may be able to let go of.
Other places that might also want some of your stuff ...
pawn shops
consignment stores
buck and does, weddings (if new)
charity auctions (if new)
schools
day care centres
libraries
churches
homeless shelters
animal shelters
anyone getting their first place or starting over
disaster relief victims
scrappers (metal)
trade students (mechanics)
crafters
Knowing that someone else needs your old stuff or can put it to good use may be that extra little bit of motivation you need to finally get rid of that junk. One man's trash, another man's treasure, right?
And, hey, once you go digging through your junk to get out that thing you're about to sell or donate, you may even encounter more stuff that you completely forgot about and should just get rid of. Let's face it, if you forgot you had it ... do you really need or want it? Chances are, there's someone out there who does.
